Helaba's sales and trading team focuses on equities in the market segments Dax30, MDAX, SMAX. Neuer Markt, Stoxx50 and Eurostoxx50.

We offer the following services for these segments:

Block Trading

Exchange (purchase/sale) of blocks of stocks via direct transactions with other banks and investment funds in order not to influence the market.

Designated Sponsoring
Over 600 stocks are managed by designated sponsors in the segments MDAX, SMAX and Nemax in Xetra. Banks and securities trading companies, that increase the liquidity of these stocks by offers to buy and sell in mid- and small caps. Thus the sponsor is a guarantor for the price quality of the stocks. All stock listed on the Neuer Markt are sponsored by at least two designated sponsors, and those listed on the SMAX by at least one. Proof of a designated sponsor is required for inclusion in the MDAX index.

Options and Futures

Helaba's trading team has direct access to the products traded on the Eurex.

These standardized derivative equity products enable you to control your portfolio structure, in addition to achieving price gains. The hedging of portfolios and the trading of strategies today form part of asset management in the same way as direct investments in individual stocks.

We offer you advice on and trading in stock options and stock futures.

OTC Products

We will be pleased to quote prices for OTC, stock options and index-linked options in the Dax30 and Eurostoxx50 markets as well as for selected stocks listed in the MDAX and Nemax50. The maturities that we cover are 0-2 years for stock options and 0-5 years for index-linked options. Please contact us.

Structured Equity Products

For amounts in excess of 5 million euros we structure products for you that combine elements of stocks and bonds. In addition, exchange-traded reverse convertible bonds that are issued by Helaba are available to you.

Reverse Convertibles
These combine a high coupon payment upon maturity with redemption either at the nominal value or in the form of stocks.

Index-linked Bonds
These enable investors to participate in the performance of a stock index with a simultaneous guarantee of the invested capital.

Discount Bonds
These will be repaid upon maturity either at their nominal value or in the form of stock, similar to reverse convertibles, but they do not pay interest. Instead, the bonds are traded at a discount.

Basket Trading (Coordinated Transactions)

Technical developments and the Internet have opened up new opportunities for electronic basket trading, too. Equities of an entire index or parts thereof can be simultaneously configured and traded in the Xetra system.

In the basket itself, the weighting in the index can be reproduced to achieve an index-oriented risk/reward profile. Both simple hedging strategies and arbitrage opportunities using the index future suggest themselves.

The development of the respective index may be exceeded by overweighting or underweighting individual stocks or sectors in the equity basket.
