Long-term project financing for five solar power plants in Italy

Long-term project financing for five solar power plants in Italy

Helaba, together with Deutsche Bank and KfW IPEX-Bank, is financing five photovoltaic solar power-plants in Italy. Italy is among the world‘s strongest growth markets in photovoltaic energy. The bank syndicate is providing loan funding a total of EUR 110 million. Helaba is acting in the transaction as Mandated Lead Arranger, Technical Agent and Hedging Bank.

The five new solar power-plants have a total capacity of 30.4 megawatts. Two of the plants are in the centre of Sicily, the other three in the north of the country in the Udine province in the Friaul-Julisch region of Venetia.

The five solar parks produce 47 million kWh of electricity from environmentally-friendly sun energy, sufficient to supply the needs of 10,500 four-person households.  All the projects have been supplying current to the power grid since the end of April 2011. They are subject to the regulations on payment for electricity fed into the grid of Conto Energia 2 and Conto Energia 3.
