Import and export finance

Do you as an exporter of consumer goods or long-lived assets want to be able to grant your customers a period of credit? We offer a series of hedging and financing options to help you do just that.

Forfaiting

Do you as an exporter find yourself wanting to provide your customer with a supplier's credit without incurring foreign payment risks?

One attractive solution you might wish to investigate is forfaiting with Helaba. We can take on your short- and medium-term receivables from deliveries of goods and services with no recourse to you.

You sell your receivable to us as soon as you have performed your obligations such that the receivable resulting from the delivery of goods or provision of a service is unquestioned.

The benefits for you:

  • The transformation from deferred payment transaction to cash transaction gives your balance sheet a boost
  • Improved liquidity
  • Enhanced creditworthiness for you
  • Reduced strain on your credit lines with your primary bank
  • No economic or political default risk
  • Permanently agreed interest rate/margin over a fixed term
  • No need for credit tracking or collection

Euler Hermes-Cover/Export Credit Guarantees

When we purchase your Euler Hermes-secured receivable, you assign to us your entire receivable from the export transaction and your claims from the export cover in exchange for the present value of the purchase price. Forfaiting with Euler Hermes-cover is a particularly effective option in cases where political or economic risks rule out securing an export transaction using letters of credit or avals.

Buyer's Credit

Buyer’s credits are particularly suitable for the medium- and long-term export financing of investment goods. The buyer’s credit is usually covered by private or state credit insurance (such as Euler Hermes). Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen extends the buyer’s credit to the customers of exporting companies for a standard term of from three to seven years.

The benefits for you as an exporter:

  • Export business is transformed into cash transaction business
  • No burden on your balance sheet
  • Reduced strain on your credit lines with your primary bank
  • No economic or political default risk
