Loan Pooling
Helaba offers wide-ranging support for the Sparkassen in the area of credit portfolio management. We provide a proven synthetic transaction platform through which to reduce concentration risks, and have already completed three loan pooling transactions. These transactions not only reduce the credit risk at portfolio level and ease the strain on equity, but also give the Sparkassen greater room for manoeuvre in lending activities. Having begun by arranging two regional transactions for Sparkassen in Hesse and Thuringia, Helaba recently arranged a first inter-regional loan pooling transaction together with BayernLB.
Following two regional transactions for savings banks in Hesse and Thuringia, Helaba and BayernLB jointly structured the first inter-regional credit pooling transaction in 2006. Implemented in 2007, the Sparkassen-Kreditbasket IV (savings banks credit basket IV) was the first Germany-wide transaction. BayernLB, Helaba, HSH NORDBANK, LBBW, NORD/LB, SaarLB, Sachsen LB, and WestLB AG – the facilitators of the transaction – were responsible for getting the savings banks on board and supporting them in the regions. The administrators BayernLB and Helaba have taken on the management and processing of the basket.
