November 2003: a strong financial grouping of unprecedented constitution comes into being in Hesse and Thuringia as Helaba and the 50 or so Sparkassen in the two states agree to raise their level of cooperation even higher. Among other developments they agree to adopt a common risk policy. Helaba takes on the central role of S-Group Bank, through which we aim to pool synergies, promote product innovation and generally support the Sparkassen in their core business at all levels.
